Ormiston Associates Ltd was established in 1994 and comprises a select team of highly qualified people covering a range of disciplines in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology and Geology. The practice includes three experienced, Council approved Chartered Professional Engineers, with individual skill sets across a vast range of residential and commercial projects.
We are specialists in on-site wastewater treatment and disposal, and provide cost effective design solutions for residential and commercial applications, with projects ranging from individual dwellings to cafes/restaurants, wineries, Marae, campgrounds and de-centralised systems for small communities. Ormiston Associates Ltd provides innovative design solutions for challenging sites where others have failed.
Sandy Ormiston is co-author of the Auckland Regional Council (now Auckland Council) Technical Publication 58 (TP58) 'On-Site Wastewater Systems: Design and Management Manual' (2004), and also co-author of the Horizons Regional Council 'Manual for On-Site Wastewater Design and Management' 2009. Sandy is a member of the New Zealand Land Treatment Collective (NZLTC) Technical Committee and has been Chairman since 2008.
We have provided on-site wastewater training for a range of Councils and Council staff and practitioners in the Auckland area and elsewhere in New Zealand.
We enjoy very strong working relationships with local and regional Councils and are able to provide clients with guidance through the building and resource consents processes. Ormiston Associates Ltd also provide expert evidence for Council hearings and in the Environment Court.
Ormiston Associates Ltd has a strong geological background, specialising in quarry investigations, including aggregate quarries, limestone quarries and clay extraction pits for brick making purposes.
Our Engineering Geological expertise is extensive and has been applied to tunneling, quarry batter slope stability, cliff stability and soil slope stability problems. This expert knowledge is used to undertake detailed assessments and provide sound advice using proven industry standard techniques.
